Episode 109: Supreme Court pauses deportations and Trump gets a plane

#SCOTUS just paused Donald Trump's deportations of Venezuelan immigrants in Texas who are being held in jail pending deportation under the Alien Enemies Act. In a Per Curiam decision from May 16, 2025, in the case of A.A.R.P. v. Donald Trump, 605 U.S. ____ (2025), SCOTUS granted a temporary injunction against Trump and his administration that prohibits them from deporting specific immigrants in Texas pending additional court decisions and orders regarding the constitutionality of Trump's use of the Alien Enemies Act. 

And Trump just got a plane! In an extremely controversial decision, Donald Trump accepted a plane from the nation of Qatar that he plans on using as his new plane for Air Force One. However, this gift was not approved by Congress and appears to be unconstitutional under the Emoluments Clause.
