Donald Trump is up on appeal! In September, the New York appeals court heard oral arguments in the New York v. Donald Trump fraud case by Attorney General Letitia James. Among other questions, the court is considering whether the imposed fines were too high and whether there were real victims. Jack Smith has filed a motion in Donald Trump's election interference case in DC, asking the court to find that his actions were "unofficial acts," so that they can proceed forward with Donald Trump's prosecution. The question is whether all or any of Donald Trump's words and actions surrounding the 2020 election were official acts or unofficial acts. #scotus rules this past summer that the US President is immune from prosecution for all official acts. The 1st week of September 2024 gave us another school shooter. This time, a 14-year-old high school freshman killed 2 students and 2 teachers at Apalachee High School and injured 9 more. The student was taken into custody and is being charged as an adult. Our legal team discusses the charges against the juvenile shooter, why he can't face the death penalty, and why he can't be given life without parole. We also talk through the reasons the school shooter's father was charged with murder and how his charges relate to the recent convictions of the Crumbleys this past spring - the parents of the Michigan school shooter. Special Prosecutor Jack Smith just filed a NEW, superseding indictment against Former President Donald Trump in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. This shorter indictment REPLACES the prior DC federal indictment filed against Trump in 2024, and it specifically excludes mention of any conspiracies with the DOJ or anyone from the DOJ. However, Donald Trump is still charged with four criminal counts, including conspiracy to defraud the American public.

In this final Supreme Court review for SCOTUS' decisions from 2024, our legal team takes a look at the Supreme Court's federal agency rulings that overturned the Chevron Doctrine and have opened federal agencies up to more normal, judicial review.
In Corner Post, Inc. v. Board of Governors, 602 U.S. ____ (2024), the Supreme Court struck down the Federal Reserve System's interpretation of its statute of limitations on lawsuits. It held that federal agency rules are subject to the normal statute of limitations accrual periods for civil lawsuits that are calculated based on when the plaintiff is harmed. We then compare that case with Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, 602 U.S. ____ (2024), through which SCOTUS officially overruled the Chevron Doctrine.
