Former President Trump keeps showing up in the hottest legal topics of the week, and this week is no exception. This week, a New York federal jury has considered the case of E. Jean Carroll against Trump for sexual assault and defamation related to an alleged encounter in the 1990s and subsequent alleged defamatory statements against her in recent years.
In this case, Donald Trump did not appear in person for the trial, and he did not testify in person. Other women were allowed to testify about alleged sexual assaults by Mr. Trump, and the judge refused a proposed jury instruction requested by the defense team. Find out why these things occurred and what they mean for the trial.

This week, New Mexico's Governor #MichelleLujanGrisham issued a 30-day ban on firearms in Albuquerque and its surrounding county, calling it an emergency public health order. New Mexico's Attorney General has refused to defend the Governor in the multiple lawsuits that have followed. In this episode, we discuss whether the Governor can issue such an order and whether it violates our fundamental 2nd Amendment right to bear arms.
Also this week, federal Georgia Judge Steve Jones denied #MarkMeadows motion to move his criminal case from state to federal court. After hearing testimony from #MarkMeadows, #JudgeSteveJones issued a ruling that characterized Mark Meadow's admitted behaviors as outside the scope of his employment responsibilities as #donaldtrump 's Chief of Staff.
Finally, there are multiple calls for impeachments across the country, including current impeachment proceedings against Texas Attorney General #KenPaxton and President #JoeBiden. We discuss the terms and stages of impeachment and whether either will work.

Kenneth Chesebro got what he wanted - a speedy trial that is now set for October 23, 2023. But did he make a mistake by requesting one? The Judge granted his speedy trial request, but he also granted Sidney Powell's speedy trial request. Then he combined their trials into one trial together as codefendants. Neither Kenneth Chesebro nor Sidney Powell wanted to be tried together. In fact, both of them asked for separate trials. But prosecutor Fanni Willis opposed this motion, and she won. Chesebro and Powell will now be tried together on October 23rd.
Willis anticipates 4 months of testimony with 130 witnesses. She is still demanding that all 19 defendants be tried together. Will some of them plead out to avoid a trial? Will any of them strike a deal to testify against other defendants and therefore avoid prosecution altogether or at least reduce the number of crimes with which they are charged or found guilty?

Does Section 3 of the 14th Amendment prevent Donald Trump from running for or being President of the United States again? 3 State lawsuits are already trying to figure this out!
As a follow-up to last week's episode, this week we discuss the States' review of the 14th Amendment's Disqualification Clause and the three lawsuits that have already been filed in Florida, New Hampshire, and Michigan to exclude Donald Trump from the 2024 election ballots.
In Part 2 of this episode, our legal team takes on Mark Meadow's motion to remove his Georgia indictments to federal court and his testimony this week during which he claims that he was only acting as part of his federal duties. We also pick up a quick discussion about attorney John Eastman's Fox News interview this week and whether he should have exercised his right to remain silent.
Finally, in Part 3 of this episode, we discuss the defamation lawsuit against co-defendant Rudy Giuliani by the female election workers in Georgia. We explain why a judge ordered him to pay sanctions and legal fees, and whether punitive damages are allowed in his case.

Does Section 3 of the 14th Amendment prevent Donald Trump from running for or being President of the United States again?
This week, our legal team takes on the newest legal argument being proposed by Conservative law professors William Baude and Michael Stokes Paulsen that the 14th Amendment actually bars Donald Trump from being President again. Dr. John R. Vile - a noted expert of the Constitution, its Amendments, the Amending Process, and Constitutional Law talks with attorney Virginia Tehrani about whether this is a valid argument, whether there are loopholes to the argument, and how the constitutional clause could or would even be enforced. Who would decide whether former President Trump had "engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the [Constitution]", and who would even define the terms "insurrection" and "rebellion"? Will the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) become the 28th Amendment to the US Constitution? Today, July 21, 2023, marks the centennial anniversary of the introduction of the Equal Rights Amendment on July 21, 1923. How is it possible that a constitutional amendment could be ratified and accepted 100 years later? Would it even make a difference?
