Episode 23: The Supreme Court and Native American Rights

#SCOTUS is issuing their June decisions, and they are HOT this summer of 2023! Habeas Corpus rights, Native American rights, and racial redistricting in Alabama all make their appearance on this week's episode of The Legal Weekly Wine.

This week, Dr. John R. Vile, Dean of the Honors College of Middle Tennessee State University, joins attorney Virginia Tehrani again to review the recent Supreme Court decisions of Jones v. Hendrix (2023), Arizona v. Navajo Nation (2023), Haaland v. Brackeen (2023), and Allen v. Milligan (2023). In these case, SCOTUS has preserved standard rules and laws, including by enforcing a treaty to the letter of the law against the Navajo Nation, while then enforcing the Indian Child Welfare Act to their favor.
