Elon Musk went on trial this week in San Fransisco, and a confidential informant sued a Louisiana police department for not keeping her safe. The Louisiana civil lawsuit: A confidential informant sued the police department in Rapides Parish, Louisiana, for negligence, saying that she was sent into a drug buy without being properly protected by the police. She had a body-worn camera, but it was not using a live feed. While on the drug buy, she was sexually assaulted twice. What duty, if any, did the police have to this informant? And did they breach any duty by sending the informant into a risky drug buy without a live-feed camera?
